LOST makes me think deeply

Last night, on LOST (something along the lines of)

"You don't choose who you love, Kate."

I was thinking a lot about this quote while driving today, and I don't think it's true.
What do you think?

You may not choose who you "FALL" in love with, who you are attracted to, but you absolutely choose who you love.

I thought this was a good episode, by the way...

Well all I know is that I've loved Kate for a few years now and she just calls the cops every time I show up on her doorstep. I'm pretty sure I yelled that "You don't choose who you love" line once as the police dragged me away, so I'm pretty sure that's where they got that line from. I'm thinking of suing.

But anyhow, I sort of agree and disagree with that statement at the same time.

I know what you mean Nate (well, not about the loving Kate for a few years now part). In all seriousness, I've been going back and forth too. I mean, when you put it in the context of God, well, you HAVE to choose to love him or not--then it gets into the free will thing and everyone shudders to have to go there to think on that one because it's uncomfortable.

Then when I think about having kids, I have to think on those who have a baby and give it up for adoption.

Or people who may or may not have married the right/wrong person.

Or family--you may or may not love certain family members...

argh--this one messes with me!

Bonfire anyone?
